New York, NY : INTIMA America took place February 29 – March 2, 2004 in Hall IE of the Jacob Javits Convention during New York City's Intimate Apparel Market Week. Showcasing lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear, textiles and various intimate apparel accessories by leading industry manufacturers from North America, South America, Europe and Asia. The 221 exhibiting companies and brands were made up of both new designers and industry veterans displaying their latest fashions to an eager buying audience.
1,925 attendees were registered during the course of the 3-day event coming from across the U.S. and 39 international destinations. The strongest international buyer representations came from Canada, Italy and Japan.
An elegant new show look debuted on the show floor during the February/March event. The hard-wall booth system featured a rich-hued copper-toned frame with cream walls. The fresh new design is a perfect complement to the show's focus on the style and function that is inherent in the intimate apparel industry. Roland Bleinroth, President of show organizer, Messe Frankfurt, Inc., noted, “The natural aesthetic that the intimate apparel industry brings to the show is perfectly complemented by the backdrop befitting the beauty and form of the products offered by our exhibitors.”
INTIMA America continued its commitment to industry education by presenting informational seminars designed to meet the needs of today's intimate apparel buyers. Seminars were well received by buyers. Retail, always a hot topic, was the focus of several sessions including “The Keys to Retail Success”, “Retail 101: A Guide for New Store Owners” and “Adding New Departments To Your Shop: Improving Your Sales”. Looking to the future, the “Color & Trend Preview for Fall/Winter 2004/2005” was attended by buyers eager to get a fresh angle on future trends. Session presenters included: Rita Nakouzi, Promostyl Trend Consultant; Mercedes R. Go nzalez, President of The Global Purchasing Group; and Rubynesque's Cheryl Hudson-Jackson.
Plans for INTIMA America's summer edition are already well underway. The event on August 1 – 3, 2004, will take place in the same hall of the Jacob Javits Convention Center due to overwhelming exhibitor satisfaction with the current location and the overall show look. The August event is traditionally the largest intimate apparel trade show of the year and is expected to draw well over 280 brands from over a dozen countries this August. Messe Frankfurt also hosts INTIMA Japan in Tokyo, Japan on May 17 - 19, 2004.
