Renewable Energy Feature Area highly regarded, focus on efficiencies to be featured at global ISH events

Chicago, IL: The fourth edition of ISH North America 2006, the international trade show for Kitchen & Bath, Plumbing, Commercial/Industrial PVF, Heating and Air Conditioning, held on September 28 – 30, 2006 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Show Management reported a total of 10,932 registered industry professionals. Several exciting features and a very enthusiastic buying audience provided a positive atmosphere and created a beneficial business environment for the 561 exhibiting companies from 18 countries. ISH NA presented several exciting and unique feature areas, including the New Product Showcase and the Renewable Technologies display.  In addition, several informative seminars provided attendees with an excellent opportunity to increase their industry knowledge and capabilities.

ISH North America was held in conjunction with the annual conventions of Show Partners American Supply Association (ASA), the International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), the Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors - National Association (PHCC), the Radiant Panel Association (RPA) and the Maple Leaf Reception of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH).

Education + New Products = Successful Show Experience

Buyers at ISH NA were pleased with the great variety and quality of the exhibiting companies; however, they were also in Chicago for professional development.  Two important reasons for the success of ISH NA are the education provided in the 46 different industry tracks and the New Product Showcase.  The Best Overall Winner of the juried New Product Showcase was Schuco’s HVAC entry - Solar DHW System.  The winners of the specific product categories were:

  • Pommerening Armaturenwerk’s Modular Hydronic Zone System DN 20 (Hydronic Heating)
  • Gerber Plumbing LLC’s Wicker Park (Kitchen & Bath)
  • Sun Hydronic’s Sunstation (Plumbing & Piping)
  • Estimation’s Tool Box (Software & Business Efficiency)
  • Mill Rose Company’s APPT All Purpose Pressure Tester (Tools & Equipment)

With 46 industry specific seminars and workshops, from influential presenters like Kirk Alter, Julius Ballanco, Ellen Rohr, Al Levi and Roger Courtney; the tracks offered a wealth of education and practical training to the capacity crowds in attendance.  The seminars received great reviews and praise from attendees and the press.

Another special event hosted every year by PHCC and the ISH NA Team is the PHCC International Plumbing Apprentice Contest.  This year, 15 aspiring plumbing technicians from eleven states competed in building out a basic three-piece bathroom. As well, the Radiant House, presented by RPA and constructed on the show floor, provided participating exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their products and install techniques.

“UA Day” on Friday, September 28 surpassed expectations

With almost 400 professionals in attendance, the United Association’s members brought an outstanding program to ISH North America.  An inspiring address from United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada’s General President William Hite got the day started out right.  Following Hite’s dynamic and informative presentation, attendees were able to view a number of mobile training trailers on display courtesy of UA Training Director Mike Arndt and his staff.  These unique mobile trailers provided attendees an opportunity to experience the latest in training techniques.  Seven trailers were on hand with complete systems simulating conditions and experiences encountered in the field.  The training initiatives brought to the industry courtesy of the cooperation with the United Association provided a motivating and unique opportunity for contractors visiting this year’s show.

Renewable Energy Feature Area on Display

Messe Frankfurt and the BDH (German Federal Industrial Association of House, Energy and Environmental Technology) presented the Renewable Energy Feature Area.  This special presentation provided examples of energy alternatives to oil, gas and electricity.  The pavilion focused on solar thermal, wood stoves, heat pumps, ventilation systems with heat recovery and hydrogen fuel cells.  This innovative technology will shape the future of the industry and offered ISH NA attendees the opportunity to explore advanced energy alternatives as featured in ISH Frankfurt and ISH China.  Our responsibility for the environment, the protection and efficient use of scarce energy resources and skyrocketing energy prices are drawing public attention to energy-efficient systems and renewable energies.
